Hydroponics and Fishkeeping are easy to combine. A land plant feature is that they prefer nitrate as nitrogen source. On the other hand water plants prefer ammonium. And unfortunately nitrate is the last step in amino acid degradation and so accumulates in the water. Therefore land plants are good filters for nitrate (if they are big enough). Additionally they make a good fish tank background.

A refrigerator storage container became a hydroponics pot. The material is polyethylene and so safe. I did cut some holes into the bottom and finished.
